Introduced by Emma Balch for The Story of Books
This week, on the 100 year anniversary of the death of Edward Thomas, The Folio Society published a stunning limited edition collection of his poems introduced by Andrew Motion. The book features original lithographs by David Gentleman.
Here some of the beautiful objects collated by The Folio Society for The Story of Books for an exhibition in Manchester, London and Hay-on-Wye later this year. The exhibition follows how this book was made.
The book features original lithographs by David Gentleman and the book has been set in #Monotype #Bembo by Stan Lane. Stan was at the Baskerville Wayzgoose last weekend and at the candlelit supper Welsh poet, Owen Sheers, read Edward Thomas’ poem ‘Words’ from the new Folio Society edition.
We have followed the making of this book and the exhibition mirrors an exhibition called ‘How a Book is Made’ Liberty on Regent Street that helped turned around the fortunes of the publishing company. The Edward Thomas exhibition will also celebrate 70 years of The Folio Society. Follow www.thestoryofbooks.com for updates on the exhibition.
