Morte D’Arthur by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
This is a beautiful edition of Alfred Tennyson’s Morte D’Arthur which was designed, written out and decorated by Alberto Sangorski.
First published in 1912 by Chatto & Windus, this is the later but very attractive 1937 edition by Basil Blackwood of Oxford which has an illustrated wrapper. Each page is printed on just one side of quality paper, the reverse being blank.
I’m am not sure anyone of this period could decorate and illuminate as well as Sangorski. He was also one of the most accomplished calligraphers of this time.
We are selling this copy of Morte D’Arthur for £150.
