Today’s Sunday Brunch has a Sixties theme. This lovely boxed set of nine 1960s classics, one for each year 1961-69, came in yesterday. Normally we break up boxed sets but this was perfect as a set. It includes Kerouac, Burroughs, Mailer, Deighton and Charrier.

Thinking of the 1960s reminded me of the brunches my father used to make on Sunday. It was the only meal he could cook apart from soft boiled eggs. We had two choices pancakes or French toast. As we got less American and more Anglicised the name changed to eggy-bread. I loved it and still love it especially with fresh fruit, Greek yoghurt and lashings of maple syrup. A very colourful or gaudy Bookseller’s Breakfast on this Bank Holiday Weekend.
