The Compleat Practical Joker by H Allen Smith (first published 1953)
Introduced by Anne Brichto, co-owner of Addyman Books, Addyman’s Annexe and Murder & Mayhem bookshops in Hay-on-Wye
I woke up this morning and this book cover by Charles Addams sums up exactly how I felt.
Two days at the London Book Fair and the long drive home to Wales late last night has me goggle eyed, legless and disoriented.
Oh I love this book wrapper. I love the mind that could come up with such an absurdity. This post is also for Stefano Tambellini who shares our passion for Addams and will be exhibiting and drawing sketches in our main shop (Addyman Books on Lion Street, Hay-on-Wye) on the first evening of the Hay Festival.
For my health and wellbeing I am having a thick berry smoothie made with forest fruit yoghurt, mixed frozen berries, pineapple and a bit of beetroot topped with goji berries and sunflower seeds (they were in a pretty floral pattern but it distracted from the book when I took a photo from above).
