Jazz in a Nazi Concentration Camp

Jazz in a Nazi Concentration Camp introduced by Anne Brichto of Addyman Books, Hay-on-Wye

Today, 27th January, is Holocaust Memorial Day. We have a huge collection of books on Holocaust and Genocide studies and some Anne Frank material (I was named after her) but it didn’t seem appropriate to post images somehow. Maybe a small candle next year.

While going through our music section as it is a special birthday tomorrow I found this and it seemed a perfect reminder that through the death, the horror and the total inhumanity a small spark of what makes us great was present.

The copyright of the Dutch version of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, published in 1947, expired on 1 January 2016, 70 years after the author’s death as a result of a general rule in copyright law of the European Union. Following this, the original Dutch version was published online and is available to download for free.
