Tricolore – a unique altered book by Victoria Keeble

Introduced by Victoria Keeble, The Haymakers

Whilst on a book arts course, a few of years ago, I was given a project to alter a book.  I dashed into one of the second-hand bookshops in Hay to find a book with very even script and printed on good quality paper. I had no idea what I was going to do at this stage and didn’t look too closely at the book and just started folding all the pages from the front to the back to form a structure. When I got to the last page I discovered that the back endpaper was red and the front was blue.  Hence the book became a rather macabre interpretation of the French Revolution with all the main exponents and dissidents hidden in the pages.
